If you're a beauty junkie like me, you probably have (at least!) a dozen shades of lipstick scattered among your most-used summer totes. As fun as it is to try different shades and textures, sometimes you simply want a trusty mainstay that you can turn to in every season. Two of my all-time favorites are the Tata Harper Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tints in shades 'Very Nice' and 'Very Naughty.' While these names evoke thoughts of old St. Nick and whether you're on the nice list or not, I assure you, they are just as seasonally relevant in the steamy summer months. I toggle between these two year-round (using them also as a cream blush) usually opting for the nude color for daytime, and the deep berry red for evening.
What are your favorite green beauty lipstick picks? I'd love to hear what you're wearing this summer!
P.s. One of these I picked up at last year's Indie Beauty Expo (this year it's happening August 24th & 25th, have you gotten tickets yet?!) and the other I scored from the gorgeously curated Citrine Beauty Bar in Arizona.
When I was first introduced to Gressa cosmetics by my friend and fellow eco-makeup artist Rebecca Casciano, I was blown away by their products. From smooth, serum-like foundations that feel so much like skincare, yet deliver such lightweight coverage, to balmy lip products that feel soft and creamy but look high-gloss luxe... For this #greenbeauty addict, it was love at first sight!
In fact, I fell so head-over-heels that I included their Minimalist Foundation in my spring beauty round-up feature published by New York Yoga + Life Magazine (printed spring issues available May 2016)! Packed with a herbal cocktail of neem (balances sebum production), horsetail (anti-inflammatory), lemon balm (oodles of antioxidants), licorice root (brightening), and other plant based oils and extracts, this foundation lives up to it's tagline as "a multivitamin for your face."
The usage instructions suggest applying 2-4 drops and buffing product onto skin. This method is great, but I like to boost my hydration levels even more by mixing the drops into my daily SPF or moisturizer. (P.s.This is a great clean beauty swap for anyone using the Makeup Forever Cover FX which is added drop by drop to a moisturizer in the same way.) That's my little #beautyhack, give it a try!
Lastly, I have to shoutout to their Lumiere: Luminous Complexion Fluid. When I first applied it, I vastly overshot how much product I would need. The result: more clown, less chic. Because they contain no fillers (only skin-loving oils and natural pigments) less is wayyy more! Now that I've mastered proper portion control, Lumiere is quickly becoming one of my everyday staples for that gorgeous, glowy, I-woke-up-like-this blush.
