Yesterday, a friend and I went to ABC Studios to watch The View being filmed. It was such a blast! I really enjoyed watching the hair and makeup squad descend during each commercial break. A cloud of hairspray here, a collarbone powdered there -- what fun! Although the fashion, makeup and (sky high!) heels were entertaining to see, the real treat was 'meeting' their guest Dr. Oz. He is such a clear-eyed, genuine character. I felt, three rows back, like I knew the man personally. We were old friends. He definitely has that effect on people. Barbara Walters continued to sing his praises long after the cameras turned off. He visited the show to incite buzz surrounding his new publication -- a magazine called "The Good Life". Audience members took home a copy. I am especially impressed by the article surrounding the physiology of skin. It's surprisingly in-depth and equips readers with vocabulary such as sebum (oil on skin surface), stratum corneum (outermost layer of the epidermis), and filaggrin (protein vital to barrier function). Knowledge is power and this magazine is chock full of health information that is very accessible to a modern reader. (Plus! A green smoothie recipe that looks intriguing.) Read more about it, here.
Copies will be available this Tuesday, February 4th. Pick one up!
